Each month, I plan to do an update on my New Year’s Resolutions. Here’s how I did in August.

Exercise: I have been able to do some kind of exercise at least twice a week throughout the month of August. I have also tried a hot yoga class (which was part of a Groupon we purchased). It is a little different than power yoga, but definitely just as hard!

My weight loss through Weight Watchers has slowed down, much to my dismay. I have lost approximately 17.3 pounds since starting Weight Watchers and have about 5 more pounds to go. It seems it always slows down for the last 5 pounds, which is really frustrating, but I am glad I am still losing, even if it is just a little.

Reading: I completed 2 books in the month of August: Insurgence by Victoria Roth (the second in the Divergent series) and Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kahling.

Writing: I am not exactly sure how many blog posts I have done, but I think it is somewhere around 30 in the month of August, one of which was on my music therapy blog. I also wrote a couple of articles for Textbroker. My work was re-evaluated and I was upgraded to the next level (Level 4), which means I can choose more difficult assignments and be paid a little more for them. Now if I only had time to write!

MT Business: I added a blog post to my blog, but I need to work on updating the website and blog more. I also lost a piano student but am starting another one to replace her spot next week. I did a group at Evansville Treatment Center that went really well, so maybe it will amount to something in the future. I am still waiting for some new things to start up, but more about that when I know more about it.

House Projects: We actually did a couple of these things in August. I went through my shoes and some of my clothes to box up. I still have more to go through, but it’s a start. We also had the laundry room tiled, so that project is finished!

Finances: We did pretty well with our grocery/toiletries this month. We went over budget by a few dollars the week Schnuck’s had triple coupons because I stocked up on things, but I was way under every other week, so overall, we were under budget. For eating out, we went over our budget a couple of weeks and were under budget the other weeks, so it all evened out in the end.

We finally sold our bathroom cabinet and vanity. We were so glad to get it out of our garage!

Unfortunately, I don’t think we are going to be able to save much money, if any, this month. However, we paid the rent for the condo in Florida, Anya’s violin tuition for the semester, and Anya’s preschool fees/tuition, and we were able to do all of this without pulling money from our savings, so I consider that a positive!

It was definitely a busy month for us, but perhaps the most exciting part of it was Anya’s first day of preschool. She is such a big girl now!
