Books: January

I thought I would share the books I completed in January.

1. Come Away With Me by Karma Brown

This book was the January book for a Facebook book club I just recently joined. It was one that everyone said made them cry, and while the story line was very sad, I didn’t cry through most of the book, and I kept wondering what was wrong with me. Then, the book hit its turning point and I literally bawled through the rest of the book. It totally caught me off guard. Yes, it was very sad, but it ended in a hopeful way, so don’t let the fact that it made me cry keep you from reading it. It really was a great book and involved the main characters traveling, so that was also fun to read about.

2. Eve by William Paul Young

This was a strange book. It had two story lines kind of going all at once. One of them had to do with a girl who was washed up on shore. This same woman was having visions of meeting Eve and witnessing creation. The other story line had to do with these visions of creation and what it all meant. It included an interesting explanation about how Adam and Eve were made, tempted, and then kicked out of the garden of Eden. It wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read but I could definitely appreciate the premise of the book.

3. The Daylight Marriage by Heidi Pitlor

Wow, what a crazy ride this book was! I had no idea it was going to be so intense. It started out as just a story about a marriage gone stale, and I expected it to be about how that marriage was saved or how it ended. What I wasn’t expecting is how the story played out. Definitely different from what I was expecting. I don’t regret reading it, but I have to admit that I didn’t like how it ended.

What did you read in January?
