My Top 10 Baby Items: #10

It seems like everyone I know is having a baby, and of course, I just had one. Even though Felix is my second child, we still had to rack our brains about what we needed this time around, what we already had, and what we needed to buy. It’s amazing how fast 3 years goes by and how much we had forgotten over that span of time. Therefore, I have put together a list of my Top 10 Baby Items (in no particular order) that we simply could not do without.

Baby Monitor

I don’t really know what the best kind of baby monitor is, and to be honest, I don’t even really know which one we have. Needless to say, there are lots of options. I know that some people co-sleep, but we choose to have our children sleep in their own rooms, though we keep them with us in our room in the pack and play for a few months. We kept Anya sleeping in our room for 3 months, but plan to keep Felix sleeping in our room for 6 months. We recently read something about the recommendation being 6 months in order to decrease the chances of SIDS. It’s not that big of a deal to have him with us, so he sleeps in our room (in the pack and play) at night and naps in his bed in his room during the day.

That being said, once the kids are in their own rooms, it is so nice to be able to hear what is going on. I know this is probably weird to a lot of people, but we still have a monitor in our 3-year old’s room. We actually bought a new monitor before our son was born so that we could keep monitors in both rooms. I feel more comfortable knowing that I could hear them if either of them needed something in the middle of the night. I know that I am more on the paranoid side than some moms, but I can’t help it!

    We have a monitor in E’s room still and probably will for another couple years. It gives me great peace of mind knowing that I can hear him in case he needs me.
