The 8 Most Satisfying Moments of Being a Mother

8 Most Satisfying Things About Being a Mother

1. When your kid just randomly says “I love you” throughout the day. Anya does this all the time and I love it!

2. When your baby is playing, meets your eye from across the room, and gives you the biggest smile. I sometimes feel like my little boy only has eyes for me!

3. When your kid tells you she (he) is “yours” and not Daddy’s. We have this conversation a lot and it always makes me feel good when Anya says she’s my girl instead of “Daddy’s girl.”

4. When your kid is really excited to give you something. For me, it’s marshmallows in the morning. Anya knows I love them and she puts them in her hot chocolate (yes, she has hot chocolate every morning), so she always grabs a handful and “surprises” me with them.

5. When you rock one of your kids/babies and he/she lays his/her head on your shoulder. This is seriously pure heaven.

6. When you see two (or more) of your kids/babies playing together. One of my favorite things is watching Felix and Anya interact. It’s also one of the scariest things I’ve seen in awhile, because I know it’s going to mean trouble someday!

7. Watching your children sleep. This is awesome in more ways than one….

8. The very first time you hold your child. I’m talking about the second after he/she is born and you get to meet him/her face to face for the very first time. Those two moments of my life are moments I will never forget.

I love when my youngest comes into my room in the morning and I still pretend I’m asleep. He’ll come up to me and kiss me and hug me and just let me go back to sleep. I also love when he randomly kisses, hugs me without being prompted.

  3. LOVE all of these– I need to take more time for cuddles!

So very right! I love it when my boys give me a tight hug….which happens almost every day! I also love that the older one comes and tells me a joke he made up because he says that I will ‘get it’!

  5. Oh I love every one of those moments. My kids are a little older so it changes with their stage. My oldest is too close to being a teenager but still will hold my hand in public and isnt embarassed by it, tells me that even when he’s 40 years old, I can come and give him a birthday hug and kiss even if he’s at work 🙂 and I love it when he comes to me with something he confides in me. With my middle son, I love when he just wants to cuddle or read books with me. And with my youngest, I love when he comes and gives me “piggy kisses”. I act all grossed out but he laughs uncontrollably and gives me the biggest smile that melts my heart. Great question and now you have me crying just thinking about it. They are growing up so so fast! 🙁

Such sweet moments! I know they will all change as the kids get older, but I never want to forget what it feels like to hold my babies!

  6. My most satisfying moments are the little “I love you”s and homemade cards. 🙂

  7. Holly says:

All of these are great except for the last one. Thinking about “meeting” my kids for the first time just makes me incredibly sad because E’s was so traumatic and C’s was so wonderful.

you hit it exactly, i enjoyed reading this 🙂

  9. GREAT post!! I love watching Eli learn/discover new things, it amazes me the things that he knows. I find it adorable when I do something and he tells me “good job” or “ood dob!” just like I tell him, we’re always cheering each other on. The random hugs and cuddles just because he wants to show me some love and get some love from only his mama. I could go on and on and on
